About the project
Huomisvoimalaitos Kokonniemi is a development project where companies can design, test, and develop energy-efficient and low-carbon solutions as part of the future sports center in Porvoo. Construction will begin in 2026, when the new Kokonniemi sports center starts to materialize in phases. The project provides a practical environment where ideas are quickly taken into trials and towards business.
The solutions produced in the Huomisvoimalaitos project cannot be implemented in the Developing Kokonniemi project, but in other future projects, the solutions may lead to practical implementation.
Companies, the city, research organizations, and other actors are involved. Together, solutions are built to improve energy efficiency, reduce emissions, and create new products and services for the market.
For companies, this means a concrete opportunity to develop their own business: you get to join in co-development, receive support for concepting and testing, as well as valuable references and networks.
The project will be implemented in the years 2026–2028 and is funded by the Helsinki-Uusimaa Regional Council from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The implementers are Posintra Oy and Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences.
The goal is to develop a replicable operating model and a virtual simulation environment where solutions can be evaluated before investments. The result will be new energy-efficient services, tested concepts, and business opportunities for companies. Huomisvoimalaitos is not just a project – it is a platform where future competitiveness is built together.
